Last month, I had the chance to work on one of my good friend's portraits as a DJ. During our conversation, I made sure that the location we choose will match the style of music he is capable of and of course it also had to match his personality. DJ Krewe, Ian Harding, a New Orleans native is one of nicest dudes I know. He is mellow, calm but gets things done when called into action. From our conversation, I asked him about the styles of music he wanted to portray. We came up with Nujabes mixed with some LA Club vibe since he is a resident DJ at Circle Bar @ Sta. Monica. During our conversation, we also agreed that we wanted to establish his L.A. presence in a photograph.
During the day of our session, heavy traffic and delays costed us one of our original locations, a japanese garden in San Fernando Valley. So, with quick thinking and help of google, we decided to check out an unfamiliar japanese garden location in downtown Los Angeles. Then we transitioned to one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles.
Here is what we came up with:
UPDATE: Days after Ian received and started using these images in his DJ resume and social media, He landed a weekly DJ gig at a private member's only penthouse club in the heart of Hollywood. Ain`t that something!?
This last photos is a throwback to my automotive/ car photography days. =)
